What Causes Battery Bulges in Electric Vehicles?

Leave a message

The bulging of electric vehicle batteries is mainly caused by high internal pressure, charging factors, and battery problems.
1. High internal pressure of the battery: Failure of the safety valve will prevent the normal discharge of gas inside the battery, resulting in an increase in pressure and bulging; High temperature environment will accelerate the internal chemical reaction of the battery, producing excessive gas and causing pressure rise; Unqualified batteries, such as poor quality of electrode plates and abnormal electrolyte composition, can also cause abnormal internal pressure.
2. Charging factors: Firstly, excessive current during charging can damage the chemical substances on the internal plates of the battery, causing the battery temperature to rise and the exhaust to be delayed, resulting in bulging. Secondly, the charging method is not standardized, such as charging for too long, charging immediately after riding, or riding immediately after charging, which can cause the battery to overheat, lose water, and swell. Thirdly, the charger is not compatible. If the parameters of the charger are greater than those of the battery, high flow output will cause the battery temperature to rise rapidly; If the parameter is smaller than the battery, it will prolong the charging time and keep the battery in a high-temperature charging state for a long time.
3. Battery issues: Some batteries are prone to bulging and are related to their quality; Lead acid batteries are now strictly prohibited from containing cadmium. Charging them for long periods of time at high temperatures and high currents can lead to swelling; Some batteries have poor safety valves that cannot release pressure properly, resulting in bulging and deformation.
